Protective Wear

Protective wear and equipment are designed to protect the wearer from injury by blunt impacts, electrical hazards, heat, chemicals, and infection, for job-related occupational safety and health purposes. Protective wear and equipment are necessary for workers in areas with chemical and biological hazards, those who work in chemical processing factory, hazardous waste cleanup, asbestos removal, or applying pesticides.

There are various types of protective wear for different types of uses. Before choosing protective wear and equipment for industrial or other purposes, we must understand the working environment and conditions. Certain heat and physiological factors are to be considered in order to ensure the workers are well protected while doing their jobs.

For chemical factory, or environment which are prone to chemical hazard and radiation, the protective wear is different from other protective clothing. Since the worker must engage in a situation with multiple threats, we must consider the danger of contacting with the chemical, whether skin contact or inhalation is hazardous. Generally, chemical protective wear should be worn with SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) mask, chemical-resistant gloves and chemical resistant boots.

For electrician, electrical protective wear requires at least 2 conditions, it must not conduct electricity, and must be flame retardant. Electrical protective wear must be anti static as well, although there may be different safety clothing requirements depending on whether you work with low or high voltage operation. Rubber clothing is very efficient, but also heavy and cumbersome. However, there are various lighter materials that work as efficient as rubber.

Choosing the right protective wear requires doing research and consultation with other professionals in your industry or workplace to ensure the best safety for you and your worker. If you need to consult about the best protective clothing and gear, please contact Surya Cakra Mandiri and we will provide the best solutions.
